The Wellness Train: Athletic Performance

More and more youth are participating in organized sports teams at younger and younger ages. While this participation is important as we begin to combat the growing epidemic of childhood obesity, a greater number of our children are experiencing overuse injuries. Since children tend to spend more time in front of televisions, computers and video games, and many schools have decreased their physical education classes, often the bodies of children are not as prepared for participation in sport as they once were. Therefore, developing a foundation and implementing proper training methods into sport practices can help to decrease the incidence of injuries, as well as improve performance.

As a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and experience as a Sport Performance Coach, The Wellness Train can work with coaches to help facilitate implementation of various techniques that can be included in practice sessions to help build coordination, strength, balance, speed, flexibility and reduce the risk of injuries in their athletes.

The Wellness Train offers either single sessions or a series of:

  • Coach's clinics or workshops
  • Workshops or training sessions for youth athletes

We are here to tailor this training to the specific needs of you and your team.

Meredith Hale-Griffin is a great coach. She pushes you past the limit you think you can go and helped me to become a better athlete and be able to perform to my highest level. She helped me with my speed, agility and strength and helped transform my body from a high school basketball player to a division one basketball player. Out of all my years of training she has helped me the most be able to transform my workouts from the weight room to the basketball court.
